Animals, education and practical problem-solving have been part of my life for many years. When I kept livestock at home, I found myself dealing with the familiar problems of manure, urine, wet ground, flies, mud after rain and a smell that became stronger as bedding built up. Keeping the area clean was becoming a constant job.
I began asking a simple question: what if the ground beneath the animals could become part of the solution?
That question led me to experiment with natural, carbon-rich materials and a deeper, layered floor. Over time, the persistent smell stopped being the daily issue it had been, the ground became easier to manage and drier underfoot, and fly pressure was reduced. It was a practical change I could see and live with every day.
Why I created L.O.G.S.
I created L.O.G.S. to give livestock owners another way to think about their animal areas: not only as a surface to clean, but as a living ground system that can be designed to work with good animal care and sensible management.
I do not believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every farm, pen and hutch is different. The animals, drainage, shelter, water points, existing floor and daily management all matter. That is why I start by understanding the real situation before recommending anything.
My aim is straightforward: to help create animal areas that are healthier, more comfortable and easier to manage for both animals and the people caring for them.
